SCOTT WEILAND Marries Photographer JAMIE WACHTEL
June 23, 2013According to People.com, former VELVET REVOLVER and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS singer Scott Weiland married his girlfriend, photographer Jamie Wachtel, Saturday night (June 22) at their Los Angeles home. It is his third marriage.
"We had the most beautiful, heartfelt ceremony," Wachtel told People.com. "We all cried and laughed. Scott and I are over the moon!"
Weiland met Wachtel in 2011 while filming music videos for his Christmas album, "The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year".
Speaking to RollingStone.com last November, Weiland said about his relationship with Wachtel: "I am incredibly happy. She is incredibly beautiful in every aspect of the word. Lovely, smart, passionate. And she loves my kids and I love her son… She's the greatest thing that's happened to me in a long, long time."
Weiland's autobiography, "Not Dead & Not For Sale", was released in May 2011 via the Simon & Schuster imprint Scribner.
The singer last month filed a multi-million dollar countersuit against STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, just one week after the group sued him. Weiland is seeking compensatory damages in excess of $5 million and an additional $2 million for each "willful use" of the STONE TEMPLE PILOTS name.
STP's suit claims that the band owns the name STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, as well as its songs, copyrights and trademarks. The suit asks a judge to block Weiland from performing any STP songs in his solo shows and from even calling himself a former member of the band.
STP fired Weiland in February after reuniting with him in 2010 for a series of tours and one self-titled album. The band had previously been on hiatus since 2002, primarily due to the singer's struggles with drugs and alcohol.
In an open letter on the band's web site, STP told fans that the purpose of their lawsuit was "not to hurt Scott. We want to move forward productively, and Scott's choices and actions have prevented us from doing that."
